Ok i have a small beta fish well he looks samll and i have been told they would eat HBH Betta Bits, bloodworms, tubifex worms or brine shrimp but i don’t know if he will eat it or if it is to big i have never seen these foods but will it work help me out

yes, these foods should work for it. If you get the freeze dried brine shrimp I got some that were dried in chunks so I just had to break a little piece of the chunk off and this made it easy to make small chunks of brine shrimp for my betta. Also, if you are willing to do a little extra work (and pay just a bit of money) you can hatch some live brine shrimp for your betta to eat. These are fed to fish fry so they certainly would be small enough for your betta. If you are interested go to the link below and it will tell you all about hatching brine shrimp. But really I think you are fine with the HBH betta bits, brine shrimp, and the worms. I feed my fish HBH betta bits with no problem and give him freeze dried bloodworms once in a while. He loves it and has wonderful, vibrant colors as well. Just try the foods and see how your betta likes them.

Budgie question?

my budgie is kinda trusted by me i feel that i forced it on her.she lets me pick her up scratch he rneck at times but i feel like i did it wrong.i feel like we could be more trustworthy to our selfs if i listened to the websites.but i get to excited when i buy an animal.is there anyway to gain trust more?she seems comferable at my home right now shes flying through the house chirping but i just wanna know if i can gain enough trust to get her to play games and stuff with me . is there anyway to get at this level?any tips?anything!?

Don’t try to force yourself on her, just supply her food and water and talk to her when you have the chance. Give her a chance to get used to you. Eventually she may feel comfortable enough to initiate contact by flying to you and landing on your shoulder or jumping on your hand when you’re cleaning her cage. Try talking to her and teach her to talk. It’s all about forming a bond with your pet. Once the bond is formed, you’ll be able to teach her tricks and play games with her. Be sure to buy her fun toys and a mirror or two. Budgies love mirrors.

It may take a long time, but when it happens, you’ll know it…and you’ll have a friend for the rest of her life.

The Best Fences for Horses

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Fences are structures that are made to prevent entry or exit through a certain boundary. This is the most basic function of a fence; and here are the specific purposes for such barriers:

* Prevention of theft
* Keeping children or pets from getting out of the area
* To avoid trespassing
* To improve the appearance of gardens, houses and landscaping
* For real property demarcation
* To keep livestock in the farm and keep the animals that are preying at them at bay

When it comes to horses, the usual wooden picket fences that residences normally setup would not do any good. Horses are meant to be free by nature and when people try to keep them, it is but normal that these animals would still seek freedom. Hence, an essential part of taming and eventually keeping a horse is to put up a fence that is long-lasting.

A horse fence has two main purposes: to keep horses in a secure place and to do just that safely. A horse-owner could choose to have rustic, high-tech, electric, utilitarian, stable or transitory fencing yet all these are meant to do the two basic duties. Along with a good fencing plan, an owner should also have a spacious farm (or any other roomy area), enough food, and many other horse paraphernalia.

An aluminum fence is probably one of the best types of fence that a horse-owner should consider. It is a preferred choice when it comes to fencing due to many advantages. Here are some of the characteristics of aluminum that makes it a perfect horse fence:

* Aluminum is as strong as iron yet it does not rust and they often come with powder-coat finishes which makes up for well-protected surfaces.
* Since aluminum is powder-coated, it has an enhanced look and when the owner decides to have it painted, he can easily do so because of the fence’s smooth surface.
* Although highly durable, it is also lightweight and malleable. It can easily be shaped into any style that the owner wants.
* It could also be maintenance-free.
* They often come with lifetime warranty so the horse-owners are given peace of mind.
* They are highly cost effective.

Also one of the fence types that have an ever-increasing number of buyers is the vinyl fencing. Just like aluminum, it is durable and totally inexpensive. For people who do not want to paint their horse fences, this is probably the most popular choice as the color is consistent throughout the entire product. Compared to wood, it has five times the tensile strength of the ordinary wooden fence! Also, it has a low-maintenance feature; highly expandable; and is made out of recycled materials.

Gone are those days for electric fences for horses! With vinyl and aluminum around, there are now better and safer options to consider.

Cats cause misscarriage?

Is it true that a woman is so hard to get pregnant if she has more than 2 cats at home??

Some people just don’t use their heads! Cats won’t cause or prevent pregnancy in HUMANS.. but they can give you parasites that can cause miscarriage- if you change the litter or do other things that can transmit that parasite. I had my husband do the kitty litter while I was pregnant. Here is something I found that explains it well:
————————————–…
Toxoplasmosis is a common disease found in birds and mammals across North America. The infection affects 10 to 20 out of every 100 people in North America by the time they are adults. Symptoms include: fever sore throat, sore muscles and tiredness, swollen glands in the neck, armpits or groin. In some cases the infection can also cause temporary blurred vision or loss of vision. Most people who are infected do not show any signs of the disease. Persons who are pregnant or are experiencing a suppressed immune system due to AIDS, cancer or following organ transplants are at higher risk for illness. Cats can also spread the parasite in their feces. Therefore humans can also become infected with toxoplasmosis when changing a cat litter box or working in an area contaminated with cat feces. A growing fetus can become infected with the toxoplasmosis parasite. This can happen if the mother is infected with the parasite while pregnant or before she becomes pregnant. Infection in the unborn child early in pregnancy can result in miscarriage, poor growth, early delivery or stillbirth. If a child is born with toxoplasmosis he/she can experience eye problems, hydrocephalus (water on the brain), convulsions or mental disabilities. Treatment of an infected pregnant woman may prevent or lessen the disease in her unborn child. Treatment of an infected infant will also lessen the severity of the disease as the child grows. Most cases of toxoplasmosis do not originate from contact with cats, but rather from consumption of raw meat. Cats which have been raised indoors, have never caught and eaten mice or birds, and who have never been fed raw meat are not likely to be infected. A stray or unfamiliar cat which appears sick should not be handled but should be reported to your local Animal Control Officer. Here are some tips to help you continue to enjoy your pet cat: wash your hands after patting, brushing or being licked by your cat; clean out the litter box every day; dispose of cat feces in a plastic bag in the garbage; do not compost the cat litter, or dispose of the litter near your garden; see a veterinarian if there are any signs of illness in your cat; don’t feed raw meat to your cat.

It is an utter piece of nonsense!

There were a lot of old wives tales which centred around cats and miscarriage - we now know these to be based on the presence of toxoplasmosis, and this is the reason why pregnant women are avised to always wear gloves if changing litter trays and to maintain good hygiene practices. The same routines should also be observed when gardening as toxoplasmosis may also be present in the soil.

This question actually did make me smile - as a breeder with friends who have lots of cats and lots of kids !!!!
It would be a great form of birth control if it was true, hey?! :-)
